Thursday Thirteen

Look kitties, it's a Thursday Thirteen all about me - Dante!! After reading all of your responses yesterday I have decided to stay with my Mommy and Daddy for now. However, I will promise to stay forever if they do the following Thirteen Things:

1. Feed me only human food and stinky goodness - no cat crunchies, they are not good enough for me!
2. Give me plenty of fresh tuna juice - I do not only have to drink water you know.
3. Banish the Kid from my sight when he begins to annoy me and do not allow him around me until I am ready for him again.
4. The Nip is mine mine mine.
5. The Cat Dancer is mine mine mine.
6. I get to sleep on the bed and no one else unless they have my express permission.
7. Get rid of Beaux - I hate him!
8. Make Jack share the Captaincy with me.
9. I get first picks of sunbeams on the porch.
10. I get to sleep at the top of the stairs and you have to walk around me without saying "Dante, move please"
11. Pearl is to have unrestricted access to the house and can come ofur whenever she wants.
12. Milk should be served at least once a day.
13. You must love me most and I must be your favorite cat. This is only fair as you are my favorite humans.

Oh and one other thing - all next week I DEMAND that it be "Dante Week" - All me, all week! What do you kitties think?

Thursday Thirteen

Hi kitties, Fagin here!! I have a question for all you adult kitties and older kittens out there. Did you get in more trouble as you got older? You see, I am turning into a big mancat now and I can jump lots more places but everytime I try to do more things, I get yelled at! Take this morning for instance. I snuggled up to Mommy and she seemed really happy so I decided she would love to play with me so I put the bitey on her and then she screamed "Fagin, stop it!" and threw me off the bed. I just do not get it!! This has inspired me to write this week's Thursday Thirteen which I will entitle:

13 Things Fagin Heard As He Got Into Trouble

1. "Fagin! Get off the stove you moron!"
2. "Fagin! Stop attacking Dante! He does not want to play!"
3. "Fagin! That is my sandwich! You cannot have it so stop licking it!"
4. "Fagin! You do not drink bubble tea so go away!"
5. "Fagin! You are too young to drink wine. Stop it!"
6. "Fagin! Stop climbing that screen!"
7. "Fagin! Get in this house now! It's raining and you will get soaked on the porch!"
8. "Fagin! Why the hell are you wet? You're taking too much after Billy!"
9. "Fagin! Stop eating my hair!"
10. "Fagin! Stop attacking Samwise's floof. That makes him mad at you!"
11. "Fagin! Do not eat that bug! Give that here!"
12. "Fagin! Stop attacking that doorframe. Why the hell do you do that anyway?!"
13. "Fagin! Captain Jack will kill you for it so stop plotting to steal his Temptations!"

Humans!! I just do not understand why they never let me have any fun!!

Thursday Thirteen

Heya kitties. Fagin here! For this Thursday 13 I am going to tell you about 13 things I get in trouble for. I have no idea why I get in trouble for these things, but either the beans or my brothers get on to me when I do them so maybe they are bad things. Tell me what you think!

1. Tring to eat dinner with Mommy. I mean, she has a whole plate of delicious, nummy foods - why is it wrong to want to try some myself by whapping pieces off the plate and into my mouth?

2. Putting the bitey on anything and anyone I play with. I love to put the bitey on Mommy cause she screams and says "FAGIN! STOP! NO BITEY!" If I did not bite her, she could not scream this and obviously she likes to scream it cause she screams it all the time!!

3. Stealing Dante's Temptations. I think he has to be done eating his cause I already finished mine and he still has some left. I do not want good treats to go to waste.

6. Taking Captain Jack's catnip. I am only trying to save him from himself. He's a nip addict and besides, he always gets more nip than I do! Not fair that he does not share!!

9. Attacking Samwise's tail. if he does not want me to attack it why does it have all of that nice lovely long furr and why does he move it so much? So enticing!

7. Attacking Mommy's hair. She has pretty hair so I want to grab it and eat it but she yells at me when I do this. WHY?

11. Climbing on the counters and onto the stove. Daddy puts foods there. I needs the foods! Who cares if its hot? What does burn paws mean?

13. Whapping Mommy on the nose and leaving a scratch on the very end of her nose. I think the stratch is stylish and now everyone knows that she is my Mommy too!

Is that 13? I do not think I can count right. I hope it is because I am tired of this now. I gots to PLAY! BILLY! COME AND PLAY!! PLAYPLAYPLAYPLAY!! Oh, sorry kitties, but sometimes a kitten just has to PLAY! YAY!!!

Thursday Thirteen

Tybalt tagged Captain Jack and Bendrix tagged Dante and Fagin for the 7 Useful Things Meme. Since we were all tagged, we decided to modify it to a 13 Useful Things Meme and answer it together!

1. Captain Jack - I keep an eye on the birds that live outside to make sure that they do not suddenly go insane and start attacking the house and my beans like the birds in that Hitchcock movie did. I stare at the birds and even chitter at them to threaten them everytime I see them.

2. Dante - I guard the kitchen against all invaders by lying across the entrance to the room. No one will get past me and steal food without my knowing about it!

3. Fagin - I am Mommy and Daddy's alarm clock. When I was a little kitten and was locked into my room at night, I meowed and meowed every morning when it was time for Mommy to get up so she did not oversleep. Now that I am bigger and am not locked up at night, I curl up under Mommy's chin and purr loudly to make sure she does not oversleep. I even attack her hair if she does not pay attention to me! I start this at 3am so that there is no way that she will be late!!

4. Captain Jack - When Mommy comes downstairs in the morning, and while she is making her coffee, I make sure to jump up on the counter and meow loudly at her over and over again. She thinks I do this because I want Temptations (and I do) but I really do it to make sure she stays awake and does not fall back asleep. I would not want her to be late to day hunting!

5. Dante - I keep the dogs in line and make sure that they behave. I do this by growling, hissing and whapping them lots. The dogs need lots of discipline and I take care of this for my beans.

6. Fagin - I make Mommy and Daddy laugh lots. I do not know why. All I am doing to playing and attacking but they seem to find it funny!

7. Captain Jack - I keep the kitten in line by growling, hissing, and whapping him. Someone needs too - Fagin is a menance!

8. Dante - I help Daddy take his medicine at night. I jump up on the counter and watch him. When he is done, to reward him I climb up in his arms and let him carry me to bed.

9. Fagin - I help Dante to get his exercise by attacking him and making him play with me. Its fun!!

10. Captain Jack - I keep Mommy's fet warm by lying on them! This way she will not catch a cold!

11. Dante - I keep Mommy's head warm by wrapping around it like a scarf and purring. This way she will not catch a cold either!!

12. Fagin - I am cute.

13. Captain Jack, Dante, and Fagin - We make Mommy and Daddy happy and love them as they love us. It's been proven that people with animals live longer and are healthier. We love and we are loved. Not a bad deal at all!

Thursday Thirteen

As you know, Mommy and Daddy are really debating bringing LK home to live with us. Because of this, today we are going to list 13 things we have heard said about LK this week.

1. Mommy said to Daddy: "Captain Jack is my kitty and Dante is your kitty - if we got LK, who would he belong to?"

2.Daddy said: "He is still so little that I cannot make a decision yet..."

3. Aunt Susan said: "If you are worried about Jack and Dante hurting him, don't be. Chances are they will think something more along the lines of 'what the heck is that thing?!' than they will think of hurting him."

4. Mommy said: "He is an orphan, we could name him Oliver."

5. Daddy said: "What about Dodger as in The Artful Dodger?"

6. Aunt Susan said: "I think you should name him Merlyn cause he has eyes like a little owl."

7. Mommy said: "Where would we isolate him at? Dante likes the guest bathroom so much and he feels that it is his room, so we cannot take that room from him."

8. Nana said: "If you guys bring him home, make sure to do it when you can take some time to be home with him so he can get to know you and the boys and the house."

9. Uncle Mark said: "I think you have just the right amount of animals and getting one more may be pushing it."

10. Aunt Susan said: "I have had one inquiry about him, so do not feel like you have to take him. I can find a home for him, no problem. If you do take him and it just doesn't work out, we can still find him a good home then too."

11. Mommy said: "It was easy enough when Dante came home. They only had about two hours of hissing and growling before it was over and Susan says a kitten would be easier than to introduce than Dante was..."

12. Samwise said: "Oh you should have seen him! He is so little and he was whapping and batting my nose and he smelled like a baby - just like Jack did when he first came home!"

13. Captain Jack and Dante say: "We are not sure about this either. We could use a cabin boy but what if he gets more attention than us? We like our hosue now. Do we really need to add another? What if we do not like him? What if he does not like us? Samwise says he bites too!!"

Thursday Thirteen

We are getting so excited about Captain Jack's 4th Birthday Cruise coming up on Monday! We are putting the finishing touches on our trivia treasure hunt and we cannot wait to see which kitty takes home the treasure! For this Thursday 13, we want to tell you all about the fun things there are for kitties to do aboard the Black Furrball!

1. Climbing the rigging! It's a tall ship after all and there is plenty of ropes and things to climb!
2. The Black Furrball provides the best fresh-caught fish that any kitty could ask for.
3. Hammocks are available in large supply for those afternoon naps.
4. We have eye patches just like Dante's for any kitty who wants to look fearsome!
5. It's fun to scream "Me-ARGH!!!" to show how scary and fierce you are.
6. Tuna boats and Temptations boats go by - need we say any more?
7. There is nothing quite as lovely as the sun over the Carribean and we have tons of decks for sunbathing!
8. Seagulls follow the boats as they come in and leave port! YUMMY!
9. Real live undead shrimp that quickly become real live dead shrimps in the kitty belly!
10. The beans must do as we say or we can make them walk the plank!
11. We can smuggle in the best nip you've ever had!
12. Kitties look really cool in pirate costumes!
13. We're pirates, we can do whatever we want and if a bean says no, we can shanghai them!!

Thursday Thirteen

For this week's Thursday Thirteen, we have decided to tell you 13 things that you may not know about the members of our family!

1. Around our neighborhood, you often see members of Captain Jack's family. In fact, one day Mommy and Daddy were going out and were about half a mile from our house, when they saw what they thought was Captain Jack run across the road. Mommy jumped out of the car and tried to catch "Jack" only to find out that it was his twin who was apparently feral. We often leave cat food out for his family, in case they get hungry when they come by and say hello.

2. For a short time, when Daddy was waiting on our house to close, he and Samwise lived with Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave. Samwise still considers their home to be his as well and even has a special spot that is all his - it's on the back of the couch on top of a huge stuffed animal alligator. That alligator is called "Sammy's Gator" and he is the only furry allowed up there.

3. Dante thinks that Beaux should always live outside. When Mommy is trying to make Beaux go out (and he doesn't want to) she has watched Dante chase after Beaux whapping like crazy to run him out. Sammy Meezer would be so proud!

4. Beaux is very easy to teach tricks to. He has been taught to sit on command, to stay on command even when there is food in front of him, and he can catch treats and toys in the air. Mommy and Daddy are working on teaching "Lay Down" and want to teach him to play frisbee.

5. We have showed you some pictures of how well Daddy can cook and of the wonderful food he makes. Daddy actually learned to cook so well when he was in the Marine Corps. They even taught him how to make roses out of lemons, limes, and tomato skin and he can make Birds of Paradise out of apples.

6. Our Mommy has an obsession with Alice in Wonderland. She has multiple copies of the books, pictures, figurines, purses, clothes, etc. Our guest room is completely dedicated to her Alice collection. She is just slightly less obsessed with The Lord of the Rings.

7. Captain Jack is very demanding. He will meow and meow until he gets his way. He demands treats, food, water in his fountain, and to be let outside on the porch every day from the moment Mommy or Daddy come home from day hunting.

8. Samwise has been with Mommy and Daddy the longest so he gets some special privledges. He is always allowed to sleep on the bed with them and they often take him along when they go to visit friends and family.

9. Dante loves Daddy best. Mommy will pick him up to snuggle him but if Dad walks up Dante will just about throw himself out of Mommy's arms and into Daddy's. Thankkfully Daddy has always caught him.

10. Beaux is very quick and fast. Once we had a mousie in the house though the mousie was never anywhere that us kitties could get to. One night the mousie was outside and Beaux caught him. We never saw that mousie again though it did run off so we do not think Beaux killed it but just scared it off.

11. Daddy's father was in the military when Daddy was growing up so he has lived in lots of places - Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Alabama, Washington D.C and Okinawa, Japan. When Daddy got older and joined the Marines he was stationed at the Marine Corps base in Quantico.

12. Mommy works for the state government and often has to attend hearings and things at the state Capitol, especially during this time of year when the legislature is in session. She said last night that if she has to read many more bills she may go mad. Does that mean that she will yell a lot, cause she does that when she gets mad sometimes.....

13. Beacuse Mommy has been so busy at work lately, she has not had time to have our normal photo sessions. She was looking at some old picture and found this one that made her laugh:

She says it looks like Jack passed out in a Nip coma. He really wasn't passed out....we don't think.

We're Back! and T13!

Hi everyone! We are back today, at least for a little while. Mommy is feeling a little better. She went to the human V-E-T yesterday and he said she has something called broncitis again (it makes her cough and cough) and an infection in her sinuses (it makes her snort, snuff and sneeze). She felt up to helping us post today so hopefully we'll be able to go around and visit all of our friends too.

While we were gone, we noticed how many things we have been tagged for. WOW! Mommy is going to help us go through and write everything that we were tagged for down so we can do all of them soon (hopefully starting tommorow). Until then, we wanted to do a Thursday Thirteen called:

"Thirteen Things We Did While Mommy Was Sick"

1. Slept on the big bed with Mommy. After Daddy went to work every morning, we were afraid she would get lonely so we made sure to get into bed with her to keep her company.

2. Kept her head warm by curling up on the pillow beside her. We think it is very important to stay warm when you are sick.

3. Soothed her to sleep by purring after we laid on her pillow. We would purr right in her ear so that she would be all relaxed and have good dreams.

4. Entertained her by playing all over the bedroom. That was fun and we could not have her getting bored!

5. Made sure she got her exercise by meowing at her for treats which are kept in the food room. Going up and down the stairs to assist us meant she got exercise which kept her strength up.

6. Made sure the dogs left her alone to rest by whapping them and growling at them (Dante especially enjoyed this).

7. Made sure Mommy's drinks were good for her by taking sniffs and sips.

8. Made sure Mommy did not hurt herself with the drinking straws she placed in her glasses by stealing the straws.

9. Captain Jack showed Mommy how one should play with straws after we stole them.

10. Took long naps with Mommy - this is very important in the healing process.

11. Gave Mommy massages by making biscuits on her tummy.

12. Made sure Mommy's dinner was good by taste testing for her.

13. Since she was not day hunting, we were able to go out on our porch and enjoy the nice weather. Its was almost 70 degrees here!! Here are some pictures Mommy took of us enjoying the day. Do you see how Dante's furrs are all thick? Mommy says he has his winter coat on.

Mommy put this green blanket on this chair just for Jack. She said it matches his beautiful green eyes.

Thursday Thirteen

The last two weeks, we each taken a turn listing what we want from Santa Paws this year. This week, we have decided to list the 13 things we want Santa Paws to bring for Mommy and Daddy - cause our beans are very very special - they love us an give us nummies. Since they work hard all year, we think they deserve these things:

1. New living room furniture - something not hand-me-down that we can get our furrs all over.
2. A bigger food room/kitchen - Daddy loves to cook and we have the tinest kitchen imaginable. This would also allow for the storage of more Temptashuns!!

3. A king sized bed - so all of us have plenty of room to stretch out.
4. New curtains in the living room - this is kinda our fault. The ones we have had tassels on them and well, do you know how fun tassels can be?!

5. A carpet cleaner cause the dogs are so messy and they have to rent one every now and then to clean up the mess.
6. A doggie door - that way they do not have to continually let the dogs in and out.

7. A winning lottery ticket so no more leaving us to day hunt.

8. If they cannot have the lottery ticket, Mommy really wants the job she interviewed for yesterday (please keep your fingers and toes crossed for her kitties - this would be a fabulous opportunity for Mommy that she really wants).

9. A catering business for Daddy - it would allow us to have more shrimps, chickens and hams! 10. Unending supply of firewood for the fire - and for Dante

11. Shiny jewelry for Mommy that we can attack

12. Warm pajamas that we can snuggle up against and by all cozy.

13. For them to know how much we love them and how thankful we are that they love us and take care of us and do everything that they do to keep us healthy and happy.

Last week, Dante told you all about his wish list for Santa Paws. For this week's Thursday Thirteen, Captain Jack is going to list his Christmas wishes.

Thankful Thursday Thirteen

First of all, we want to thank Miss Peach for inviting us to her lovely tea party yesterday and for giving us this beautiful golden rose. Captain Jack wants to make sure that his Lady Boo has a rose, and if not, he would like to give her one too. A pretty lady pirate deserves such a pretty golden rose!


We are glad that so many of you liked our Santa Paws stockings. We were asked why Dante's stocking is missing a candy cane. Well, Dante wanted to play with it so Mommy went ahead and let him have it. They are intended to be toys and he just couldn't wait. In honor of Dante wanting one of his gifts early, Dante is going to do this week's Thursday Thirteen!

This is why Mommy can never put presents under the tree before Christmas Eve - we kitties love to lay around on the skirt and bunny kick presents if she does put them on our holiday "bed." Tree skirts are comfy! Dante's been laying on it ever since the tree went up. This picture was taken while Mommy was still decorating the tree and Dante began claiming the skirt as his!!

Grumpy Thursday Thirteen

Jack and I were supposed to do this week's Thursday Thirteen together but he took one look at this and away he teleyported - with all of the toys too, leaving me alone with the dogs. *shudder* Now I am one grumpy kitty so the theme for this week's T13 is:

13 Things that Make Dante Grumpy!

1. We're having cold mornings and Jack and Samwise are taking over the bed.

2. Mommy gave me treats this morning and then Beaux came up and stole them!

3. I got locked out on the porch last night in the cold and all Daddy could say when he found me almost two hours later was that he didn't know I was out there. My human should always know where I am!

4. Beaux.

5. Samwise.

6. Mommy yelled at me for messing up the Christmas tree skirt when sliding on it was fun fun fun.

7. I had to share my real live dead shrimps with Jack last night.

8. Jack is a Captain but I do not have a title - not fair!

9. Jack called me an "orange beast" in this post - and that jerk had tons of straws that he had not shared!

10. Everytime I want to curl up on Mommy and Daddy and make biscuits, Jack gets jealous and has to be there too!

11. Mommy would not let me try the "Cajun Crawtator" potato chips she was eating cause she said they were too "hot." I am an orange Dante cat - I can deal with hot.

12. They do not build a fire in the fireplace every night for me to warm my furrs by.

13. Mommy said she would get everykitty who wanted one a personalized pirate badge for their blog to show that they are a part of my pirate crew but she has not done this yet. She said she is really busy but promises to get to it but never does!

Mommy: Dante, I will get them out I promise. I am very sorry that it has taken so long but I hope to get them out this weekend. Sorry kitties, I have not forgotten, hopefully you will all have your badges soon!

Should I believe her kitties? Sigh. Sometimes its hard being me....

Thursday Thirteen - Pirate Kitty Crew Wanted

This week's Thursday Thirteen outlines the reasons that you should join the pirate kitty crew of the Black Furrball!

1. The Black Furrball sails to many interesting places with exotic forms of Nip.

2. Climbing on the rigging and sleeping in the crow's nest is a lot of fun.

3. We sail on the ocean where there is tons and tons of fish.

4. On the open ocean, there is nothing to block the warm sunbeams that we like to snooze in.

5. There are no dogs allowed on the Black Furrball (except Samwise who thinks he's a cat).

6. A eye patch makes a kitty look very cool (see Dante's pic above).

7. "Me'Arrrggggg" is really fun to say.

8. Tuna boats and Temptation boats are just ripe for plundering.

9. You could adopt a really cool pirate name like the Dread PirateCat Patches.

10. Crew member rations on the Black Furrball include lots of stinky goodness.

11. Seagulls often follow the boat and you can "play" with them.

12. You would get to hang out with all of your friends on the decks of a pirate ship.

13. You would get this really cool picture for your very own bloggie to show everyone that you are a crew member of the Black Furrball!

Our First Thusday Thirteen

For today's post, we are going to do out first ever Thursday Thirteen - and it will be all about us and our family!

1. Okay, Mommy says we have to say this first - it's about yesterday's photo of Samwise in the cat bed - well, it actually belongs to Samwise, not us. He shares it with us. You see, when Samwise was first found, he lived with Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave for a week (they were looking for his family before adopting him out) and they kept him kenneled in their garage when they were not home. Well, every time they would let him out he would run and jump into that cat bed - an older one that they kept in the garage. When Mommy and Daddy adopted Samwise, Aunt Susan gave him the cat bed he liked so much - so yeah, it's actually his! He shares whenever we want to sleep there though.

2. Mommy calls Dante Don-Juante (Don Juan and Dante combined) at times because she says he is such a lover kitty. Often she just calls him Juan for short.

3. Captain Jack's favorite toy is a feather ball teaser that Mommy can only find at Petco. He is on his third one (see pic below).

4. Beaux can jump up and catch treats in the air and he learned how to do this all on his own!

5. Samwise loves to sleep on his back. Mommy calls this his comfy sleep position. We have a pic of this too cause you have to see how silly it looks!

6. Dante's favorite room in the whole house is the guest bathroom. He likes to hang out in the doorway (see picture below) and will escourt all guests into the bathroom when they enter. Mommy thinks this is because that was were he was quarantined when he first came to live with us.

7. Aunt Susan calls Captain Jack a "Holstein" because he is black and white and really big just like a holstein cow.

8. Beaux is not a morning dog - he loves to climb into bed with Mommy and Daddy and refuses to go outside even when they tell him he has too.

9. When asked what breed Samwise is, Mommy and Daddy say he is a "Spring Board" - half Border Collie and half Springer Spaniel. Aunt Susan says he is a Sheltie not a Border Collie but Mommy says that Spring Sheltie just does not sound as cute to say.

10. Dante has a large scar on his back where no furrs grow (his furrs beside it cover it). The scar came from a bad injury he had when he came to live with us. Daddy thinks that a car fan belt hurt Dante's back because Dante was keeping warm in a car engine when the car's owner started the engine. Dante is all fine now - just scarred - which makes him an even scarier pirate kitty.

11. Captain Jack loves to play with straws. He will steal them out of Mommy's drinks - even if it means spilling the drink everywhere!!

12. Beaux is an escape artist. Mommy and Daddy have had to lay chicken wire on the bottom of the backyard fence to keep Beaux from digging under the fence and escaping.

13. Did you guys know that Tybalt's Mommy is our Mommy's bestest friend?? Yep! They have known each other for about 10 years! That's a really long time!!
