Unfair Friday

Heya kitties! Dante here. Something absolutely awful happened last night that I just have to share with you. After day hunting, Mommy and Daddy left again to go to the gathering place that humans call "the store." When they got back, Mommy started pulling things out of bags and stacking them up. Some rattled and made sounds so I had to investigate!
These looks like kitty toys to me. "Oh wow!" I thought. "Look at all of these neat toys they have brought for me to play with!"

I see mousies and other things. And what is that big thing at the bottom called "Cheese Chase?" That seems a bit strange. I thought "Mommy, you need to spread these out so I can see them all!" And she did!
Look! A new food bowl, a soothing matt, a couple of batt-them-around noise makers and a really cool "Cheese Chase" game thing and even some feather butts! I was all excited until I heard the worst words ever.

"Dante, the feather butts are for you and Captain Jack, but the rest of it is for your new little brother. He has to have some kitten appropriate toys to play with in his room until he gets big enough to not be locked up when we are not here and can play with you."

WHAT! All these toys are for who?? NOT FAIR!! I am on strike until further notice! Pearl, my beauty, can I come and stay with you? My family is just not treating me well at all!!

**Purrageous Mom here - Yes, LK is still supposed to come to us tonight. Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave will be bringing him over after day hunting to help us get him settled. Wish us luck! We will take pictures and keep everyone updated on how its going!! Keep your paws crossed that it goes well**

Thursday Thirteen

Hi kitties!! Do you like my new blanket? Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave brought it back for me from New Orleans (It's an LSU blanket with Mike the Tiger on it!). They say it is really for all of us (Mommy and Daddy too) but I know that its really mine. I am the Captain, and therefore, everything is mine! In fact, I have been laying here on my new blanket thinking about LK coming to live here and have decided that LK can only come here under these 13 conditions:

1. He has to be the cabin boy. I am the Captain and I shall always be the Captain.
2. He cannot have more treats than me, ever - not even on his purrthday.
3. New toys have to be inspected by me before he can play with them.
4. The Nip is mine! And the chick-hen! So is the rum!! And the stinky goodness (I will share with Dante)!!
5. Samwise and I sleep on the bed. We have this right. No one else does.
6. In the den, I get to look out one window and Dante gets the other. LK will have to wait until someone moves if he wants a window - we are not sharing!
7. Mommy is mine. I only share with Samwise. LK can have Daddy with Dante and Beaux.
8. On the porch, I get the corners to sit in and look out on my domain (backyard) and I do not share.
9. Window hunting for birdies is my hobby and again, I do not share.
10. LK can lay on the antique cat bed, as long as he stays on the other side and fetches my drinks when I want them.
11. LK has to stop beating up Samwise. If he hurts my woofie, I will be very displeased.
12. What's mine is mine and what is his is also mine!
13. LK cannot have my LSU blanket. I really like it.

In fact, I think I will lay here the rest of the day and think up more rules for the little squirt!! Or I may dream about my Pirate Lady Love. Oh yes, I shall dream of my Absolutely Beautiful Lady Boo - unless she would care to come and share my new blanket? I would share everything and anything with My Lady Love!!!

Widening Family Wednesday

Last night, Mommy and Daddy came home from day hunting and almost immediately left us again. They went to Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave's for dinner as they had just returned from a weekend in New Orleans and had brought back crawfish and Po Boys to share with Mommy and Daddy. Anyway, when Mommy and Daddy came home Mommy told us something that kinda makes us nervous. She said:

"Aunt Susan says he'll be ready to come home on Friday."

Can you guys guess who this "he" is? Come on, its not that hard. Here's a hint!

Yep, LK will be coming home to our house for a trial run. Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave will be bringing him over Friday night and we are going to see how things go over the weekend. Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Susan, Uncle Dave and our friend Andre have discussed some names for him too. Here is what has been thrown around so far, in absolutely no order:

1. Wedge Antilles (from Star Wars)
2. Harry (from Harry Potter)
3. Kahn (from Star Trek)
4. Oliver (from Oliver Twist)
5. Dodger (The Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist)
6. Merlyn (cause he has big eyes like an owl - but Mommy has a kitty named Merlyn who lives with Nana and Grandpa so we do not think we can name him this)

So far no pirate names have been mentioned because they cannot find any they like. No one is really sure about the names they have discussed either. So we were wondering...what do you kitties think we should name him? Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome!

Mancat Monday

Real mancats know how to spend their weekends - enjoying some R&R on what was hopefully one of the last cold weekends of the late winter -yes, we went from 75 degrees on Friday to cold rain and wind on Saturday to 42 degrees on Sunday! We hope all of you have a wonderful week, and that it goes by quickly so that the weekend, and having our beans home from day hunting and with us kitties, comes around again very soon!

Happy Friday

It's Friday and we are thrilled!! This morning, as Mommy was enjoying her coffee, we saw that is was snowing in the northern US. We looked outside our window and wondered if it was snowing here. Here's what we saw in our yard in Georgia this morning.
Yeah, this kinda looks like snow but its not. This is the underside of our Japanese cherry tree in our front yard. This is our very favorite tree at our house and it is in full bloom right now. As you can see, its even taller than our house (sorry the pic is dark, it was taken at sunrise).

Daddy took this close up picture of the cherry blossoms. Mommy thinks its very artistic!

This is what the flowers look like. The whole tree is covered in these blooms. When they begin to drop off of the tree, it will look like its snowing. And oh, the blooms smell so very good and sweet.
Here are some flowers that are growing in one of our front flower beds. When the flowers in this bed start coming up, Mommy says she knows warm weather and spring is right around the corner.
Georgia, and the rest of the American South, is well known for the azaleas and ours are just starting to bloom. Daddy hates azaleas but Mommy loves them so he is not allowed to get rid of them, ever!
Aren't they so pretty? Ah, it's spring and it's going to be about 75 degrees today. We wonder if the Beautiful Pearl and the Magnificient Lady Boo would like to come over and spend the day with us? Happy Friday everyone. We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thursday Thirteen

As you know, Mommy and Daddy are really debating bringing LK home to live with us. Because of this, today we are going to list 13 things we have heard said about LK this week.

1. Mommy said to Daddy: "Captain Jack is my kitty and Dante is your kitty - if we got LK, who would he belong to?"

2.Daddy said: "He is still so little that I cannot make a decision yet..."

3. Aunt Susan said: "If you are worried about Jack and Dante hurting him, don't be. Chances are they will think something more along the lines of 'what the heck is that thing?!' than they will think of hurting him."

4. Mommy said: "He is an orphan, we could name him Oliver."

5. Daddy said: "What about Dodger as in The Artful Dodger?"

6. Aunt Susan said: "I think you should name him Merlyn cause he has eyes like a little owl."

7. Mommy said: "Where would we isolate him at? Dante likes the guest bathroom so much and he feels that it is his room, so we cannot take that room from him."

8. Nana said: "If you guys bring him home, make sure to do it when you can take some time to be home with him so he can get to know you and the boys and the house."

9. Uncle Mark said: "I think you have just the right amount of animals and getting one more may be pushing it."

10. Aunt Susan said: "I have had one inquiry about him, so do not feel like you have to take him. I can find a home for him, no problem. If you do take him and it just doesn't work out, we can still find him a good home then too."

11. Mommy said: "It was easy enough when Dante came home. They only had about two hours of hissing and growling before it was over and Susan says a kitten would be easier than to introduce than Dante was..."

12. Samwise said: "Oh you should have seen him! He is so little and he was whapping and batting my nose and he smelled like a baby - just like Jack did when he first came home!"

13. Captain Jack and Dante say: "We are not sure about this either. We could use a cabin boy but what if he gets more attention than us? We like our hosue now. Do we really need to add another? What if we do not like him? What if he does not like us? Samwise says he bites too!!"

Thinking Back on Wednesday

A while ago, Daddy found this picture and sent it to Mommy. It was taken years ago by Mommy of Midnight (the black kitty) and Merlyn (the grey kitty). Midnight has since gone to the Bridge and Merlyn has gotten much older (he lives with our Nana and Grandpa). Wasn't Midnight handsome with his laser eye beams? And Merlyn looks mighty adorable too. Mommy has been thinking a lot about all of her kitties, including the ones who came before, since she has been debating bringing LK home. We thought that you would like to see them too.
