Award and Meme

Look what the Captain's Lady Boo and her family gave us! Isn't it wonderful!

Thanks Lady Boo and Abby, Ping, Gracie, and Jinx. We really appreciate it and think you are excellent too (Jack especially thinks that his Boo is the most wonderful kitty alive but he is a bit biased).

Also, Lyra and Caesar tagged us for a meme! Here it is!

In this meme you have to tell everykitty 3 things that are new with you! Link it back to the kitty who gave it to you and Tigmuthep and pass it on to 3 more kitties you'd like to know more about!

1. Since Samwise has been not feeling well, we've been guarding him against Beaux. This means that we get to lay on the back of the couch while Sam spreads out on the cushions and Beaux gets the hardwood floor to lay on! hahahahaha!

2. Lately we've been insisting that we get to sleep on the big bed with the beans at night. Jack curls up around Mommy's ankles and Dante curls up around Mommy's shoulder. We let Samwise (since he is hurt) sleep next to Daddy but we get Mommy! A kitty has to stay warm and snuggling in January after all.

3. Our beans finally bought us new blinds for the big picture window in the living room. We had horizontal blinds before and we had to poke our heads through and hold down the blinds below us and such to look out before but now they bought vertical blinds for us because it makes it easier for us to look outside. We are very spoiled kitties.

Thanks again to everyone who sent their purrs and good wishes to Samwise. He is feeling much better and his owwie looks a lot better too!! We will take care of him and protect him from Beaux until he is completely healed!

Update on Samwise

We have an update on Samwise. Last night when Mommy got home she felt a lump on the very top of his head and realized that some of his head furrs were matted with what appeared to be dried blood. Further inspection showed a head injury so Mommy and Daddy called Aunt Susan. Aunt Susan had the beans give a sedative to Sammy with some drugs they had leftover from when Beau was hurt and needed sedation. After he was sleepy, they were able to clean his head and cut the furrs really short so they could see what was going on. Sammy has a boo-boo, a puncture like wound on the top of his head that is just the right size to have been made by one of Beaux's teeth. Yep, when the doggies got into their fight, Beaux bit Samwise very hard on the head and hurt him.
The bad news is that the gash is infected and is oozing nasty stuff so Mommy will have to keep is wound clean. Aunt Susan called in some antibiotiks as well as pain medication for Sam so that should help lots. The good news is that Sammy is not acting hurt and the shivering and shaking has stopped so he is not in as much pain as before. He is still wanting to play and seems to be in good sprits. Thank you for your purrs and purryers - all of us really appreciate it. We are sorry that we are not getting around to all of our friends lately but Mommy has lots going on on top of the doggie illnesses. Please do not forget us pirates!!

Tired And Worried Tuesday

We were all up pretty late last night because Samwise was not feeling well at all. About midnight he jumped up on the bed and woke Mommy and Daddy up because he was shivering and couldn't seem to stop. Everytime he breathed out, he shivered. They got so worried that they called Aunt Susan at 12:11am and woke her up (after she worked a 14 hour shift) to try to determine if they should take him somewhere right then. He and Beaux has got into a tift a few hours earlier and Aunt Susan thinks maybe Sammy got hurt. Apparently when woofies get hurt they often get really scared too and will shake like that. Aunt Susan had Mommy gave him an aspirin and some other pain meds she had from when the Captain was ill (that is how big Jack is - he and Sammy take the same dosages of meds) and he stopped shaking and went to sleep. He seemed better this morning but Mommy is worried sick. Daddy is going to go and check on him at lunch to make sure he is okay.

Please keep Samwise in your thoughts. Mommy is so worried she is sick to her tummy and we know she is really really tired too!

ManCat Monday

This Mancat Monday is brought you you by the wonderful cats at Zoolatry!

Captain Jack: "I said WALK the plank Dante, not lay on it and take a sunbath!!"

We love this picture too because it shows just how piratey we can be (whatcha think Lady Boo and Pearl - are we good looking pirate kitties?). Thanks to Maggy and Zoey for such great pictures. We really like them lots!!!

One last puppy update - the boys seem to be feeling so much better and they were able to keep down their normal food last night. Thank you for purring for them and sending them your purryers too!

Woofie Update

First of all, we want to thank everyone who sent healing purrs and purrayers to our Woofies, Samwise and Beaux, this weekend. Thankfully they seem to be feeling a lot better. No more vomitting or pooping in the house (they were both quite embrassed about that). They are still on the sick woofie food (Aunt Susan called and came by to check on them yesterday and says to keep them on the bland food until tonight and then try their normal food again) and they both have a bit less energy than usual but we think they are certaintly on the mend! Again, thanks everyone! Your kind purrs and thoughts meant a lot. Samwise couldn't believe that so many kitties cared about him and Beaux was excited to see all off your responses too! Thank you all, our dear friends!!

Our Woofies are Sick!!

Oh no! Not one but BOTH if our woofies are sick. Both Samwise and Beaux! It's just awful!

When Mommy came home last night she found that someone had vomitted and pooped all over the house. It was bad enough that Daddy had to go out and rent a carpet cleaner just to clean up all the messes. The horrid thing is that we all think that itss not just one sick doggie but that both of them are sick! Both are acting very off and instead of running and jumping around like they usually do, they are just laying about. Aunt Susan came over and checked on them last night and said it is probably something they ate (probably in the backyard since Mom cannot find anything they could have gotten into yesterday as they are restricted to only certain areas of the house when the beans are not home) but right now she does not think they need medication or fluids. She says sometimes these things really just need to work themselves out. She gave them some bland sick woofie dog food - I/D Canine - and will come back later today to check again if they are not much better.

We know some of you kitties do not like woofies - even Dante talks bad about Beaux lots - but if you could send them some good and healing purrs we would be very thankful.

Caught in the Act! And a meme

Capt Jack and Dante's Mommy here! You kitties will not believe what I caught the boys doing last night! You see, I had given the woofies a treat, but they decided they would rather go outside so they dropped their treats and left. Shortly thereafter I saw this:Okay, I thought. Dog treats could make a great toy to bat around. As you can see, at this point the Captain and Dante were approaching the dog treat as if were an alien invader so imagine my surprise when I saw this!

Yes, that is Jack eating the main cookie and Dante was eating a small piece of it! Soon after this Jack picked up the treat and ran away with it! Yes folks, both kitties partaked of a woofie treat!!!

Okay Mommy, hush! We were just making sure it was not nasty enough to kill Samwise. It's not like we actually enjoyed it!!!

Hmph! Silly humans. Dante here and I have been tagged for a meme by Abby! Here it is!

This meme was created by the charming cats at rules are: you have to post who tagged you and link back to them and then to Then you have to tag 3 other kitties, beans, woofies, or any other assorted animal. What three things would you do that you have never done before, if you knew you wouldn't get caught, get in trouble, or suffer any consequences?

1. I would get into the fridge and cabinets and sample everything I found even remotely interesting. My beans keep shooing me off of the human food so I know its all gotta be good!

2. I would beat up Beaux so badly he would stay outside for always because he would be afraid to come in and face me. I would say I would beat him up so badly he would run away but that would make Mommy and Daddy sad, so staying outside forever in the backyard works too.

3. I would hold one rip roaring awesome party aboard the Black Furrball for all the kitties on the blogosphere to attend. No human supervision either. Just us kitties with all the food and all the fun we could stand!!

Since I think that this meme has been rounds lots, I tag anyone who has not done it and wants too! Happy Friday everyone!

We've Been Tagged!

We have been tagged for two meme's by Panda Bear and Abby. We'll do Panda Bear's first! It is the nickname meme:

Here are the rules for the Nicknames Meme:

Post a link to the kitty who tagged you, and post the rules on your blog. List your real name, how you got your real name, nicknames you like/tolerate, and nicknames you wish your humans would stop calling you. Tag several kitties, and write a comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Real Name: Captain Jack

Named Captain Jack because: On the day that I came to my forever home, Mommy and Daddy could not figure out a name for me. The kids who found me named me Oreo but that just did not seem to fit for me. That night, Aunt Susan came over to give me a checkup and make sure I was a healthy kitten. Mommy and Aunt Susan got to talking about names and at first they thought of giving me a Lord of the Rings name to match Samwise., but none of them seemed to fit. Other names were thrown around and finally Aunt Susan said "Captain Jack! Cats are defiantely piratey by nature so call him after Captain Jack in Pirates of the Carribean!" Mommy agreed but "catified" my name by calling me Captain Jack Kitten!

Nicknames I like/tolerate: Captain, The Captain, Rabbit (for Jack Rabbit. They've called me this since I was a baby so I tolerate it), Kitty-kitty, Baby Kitty, Kitty Pup (since I was raised by a dog who thinks he is a cat so he is actually a Puppy Cat), and Moose Cat (cause I am a big cat too)

Nicknames I hate: Jack-Jack, Loud Mouth, Big Kitty, Holstein, Kitty Number One, and Cow Cat.

Real Name: Dante

Named Dante because: When I was adopted by the beans, I looked pretty awful - like I had been to the Underworld and back. They named me Dante after Dante's Inferno. It was a pretty fitting name for a Frakenkitty.

Nicknames I like/tolerate: Don Juan, Don Juante, Don Don, Orangey, Snuggle kitty, and Lover Kitty - cause I am defiantely a snuggle, lover cat. I also like Frakenkitty and Great Pumpkin Cat. And let's not forget my pirate names - Sir Dante and Dread Pirate Dante as well as First Mate!

Nicknames I hate: Round cat, Fatty Fatty Two by Four, Tubby Kitty, Fat Cat, Wide Load - you get the point. Hey, if you had been homeless and never knew where your next meal was coming from, you would eat like a cow too! I also hate Kitty Number Two. Sigh.

For this meme, we would like to tag Captain Jack's Lady Boo, Dante's Lady Pearl, everyone at TT's, and everyone at Sunny's.

We're going to do Abby's meme tommorow since this one turned out so big!!

Tuxie Toes on Tuesday

It's Tuxie Tuesday again and this week, I have a picture to show you one of my favorite things in the world. Can you guess what it is from the picture below?
If you said, "Oh Jack likes the Nip!" you would be right! This is me on Dante's Boogie Mat (it's orange to match his ginger furrs - mine is actually blue) loving the Nip!! Mom says to tell you that the spots you see on the carpet are not dirt, but are actually even more nip because I go a bit crazy when she puts nip on top of the Boogie for me to roll around on and eat as well! Oh nip is so wonderful!!

This second picture was taken right after I jumped onto the big bed and fell into a Nip induced coma.

Yes these are my tuxie toes. As you can see, even my paw pads are tuxie with some being black and some being pink (pink is the paw pad version of white Mom says). However, one of my back foots has all black paw pads.

Happy Tuxie Tuesday everyone and love to my favorite Tuxie of them all - my beautiful Lady Boo!!

Mancat Monday - For Caesar

The Road goes ever on and on
Out from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
Let others follow it who can!
Let them a journey new begin,
But I at last with weary feet
Will turn towards the lighted inn,
My evening-rest and sleep to meet.

Friends on Friday

Hey Samwise! Come here! We've decided to let you post on our bloggie today!!!

Oh wow! Thanks Captain Jack and Sir Dante. Hey everyone! It's Samwise and I am so happy that I get to post today. I've been thinking of what I should post the next time I get the bloggie and I thought that after watching Captain Jack go all gaga over his Lady Boo and Sir Dante fall for that gem of a kitty named Pearl, that I would tell you about my own special lady who is named Storm.

Storm is a very beautiful doggie that was adopted by our Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave. Believe it or not, Storm has actually been a mother already but after she had her puppies, those owners decided that they did not want her (they just wanted her puppies) so they took her to the pound. A rescue group got her from the pound and adopted her out to a man that was very mean to her for a few months before he finally did one nice thing and returned her back to the rescue group. Thankfully, Aunt Susan and Uncle Dave were looking for another dog right at the same time and had gone to the rescue group to look at another doggie but fell in love with Storm instead. When the group told them that they would only adopt Storm out to someone who could work with an abused dog Aunt Susan said "Great, I am a V-E-T and I want her!" so Storm got to come live with them. Want to see a picture of my lovely girlfriend? Here she is!

Isn't she just beautiful? She was named after the character on X Men, Storm, who could do lots of superhero things.

Mommy said that if I am really good she and Daddy will take me to see my Storm this weekend. If I do get to go, I think I will wear my pirate bandana that I got from my Secret Paw for Christmas this year. I think being a pirate dog will impress her. What do you think?
I just cannot wait to see her. I think I will wait by the door all day for Mommy and Daddy to come home from day hunting. Until then, have a great weekend every kitty!! Thanks for reading this puppy's post!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Territorial Tuesday

Sir Dante, the Dread Pirate here (yes, I like both names. I have decided to use "Sir Dante" when I am being noble and "Dread Pirate Dante" when I am not). So yesterday Captain Jack hogged our blog to whine and complain and moan about how hard his life is. Puh-leese! Let me tell you kitties, the Captain's life is anything but hard! He just likes to whine and moan is all - and pee in the food bowl!

I have no clue why he would want to do that. When Mommy came home last night it had happened again so she called Aunt Susan to ask her V-E-Tly advice. After she finished laughing (yes, Aunt Susan has a weird sense of humor) and asking Mommy some questions Aunt Susan said that yes, it is probably behavioral and a dominance thing and to try seperating the bowls. So far Aunt Susan does not want to take either of us to work (that's human code for Aunt Susan taking us to her V-E-T hospital and doing V-E-T things to us) but if one of us has to go, she will start with Captain Jack cause she thinks it is him doing the deed too.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The Captain will have to go in the PTU before me! HAHAHAHAHA! Serves him right too!! Revenge is so sweet. Until he can behave himself I refuse to play Thundering Herd or Chase the Kitty with him. Instead, I will sit here and enjoy my there any special kitty that would like to come and enjoy the view with me??

Madcat Monday

Captain Jack here - I interupt this Mancat Monday to bring you a special Madcat Monday, because that is what I am, a mad cat!! I had a horrible weekend and it's all that orange beast's fault!! Why am I so mad at my so-called brother? Because he is usurping my territory that's why!!

All weekend when I jumped up on the bed to curl up with my Mommy like I always do and what did I find? Dante - sleeping beside her. All weekend when I went to eat crunchies out of my bowl what did I find? The food was all gone because he had eaten it. But that is okay, cause I got my revenge on his food bowl - I peed in it, yes I did (Jack's Mommy here - someone really did pee on the 2nd bowl not once but twice in the last few days. Both seem to be healthy and not have any UTI problems - anyone have an idea as to why this would happen? We only find it when there are two bowls of food out - and we do put the bowls next to each other. Should I move them apart or just take away the second bowl completely cause if there is only one bowl out, it does not happen)!

Sometimes I just want to be an only kitty again. Dante drives me nuts with his whole "Look at me, I wink at you" and his "Aren't I special? Look at my scar; I was so hurt" thing. Until then, I will plan to trounce him the next time he waddles by me. And I can do it too, just look!
This is a picture of me about to beat him up, cause I am the big brother and I am the Captain so that makes me best so there!!!!

Oh Mommy also wanted to thank all of you kitties and your beans for sending her such heartful get well wishes. She is feeling better and knows that it is partly because of all of you!!

We're Back! and T13!

Hi everyone! We are back today, at least for a little while. Mommy is feeling a little better. She went to the human V-E-T yesterday and he said she has something called broncitis again (it makes her cough and cough) and an infection in her sinuses (it makes her snort, snuff and sneeze). She felt up to helping us post today so hopefully we'll be able to go around and visit all of our friends too.

While we were gone, we noticed how many things we have been tagged for. WOW! Mommy is going to help us go through and write everything that we were tagged for down so we can do all of them soon (hopefully starting tommorow). Until then, we wanted to do a Thursday Thirteen called:

"Thirteen Things We Did While Mommy Was Sick"
1. Slept on the big bed with Mommy. After Daddy went to work every morning, we were afraid she would get lonely so we made sure to get into bed with her to keep her company.

2. Kept her head warm by curling up on the pillow beside her. We think it is very important to stay warm when you are sick.

3. Soothed her to sleep by purring after we laid on her pillow. We would purr right in her ear so that she would be all relaxed and have good dreams.

4. Entertained her by playing all over the bedroom. That was fun and we could not have her getting bored!

5. Made sure she got her exercise by meowing at her for treats which are kept in the food room. Going up and down the stairs to assist us meant she got exercise which kept her strength up.

6. Made sure the dogs left her alone to rest by whapping them and growling at them (Dante especially enjoyed this).

7. Made sure Mommy's drinks were good for her by taking sniffs and sips.

8. Made sure Mommy did not hurt herself with the drinking straws she placed in her glasses by stealing the straws.

9. Captain Jack showed Mommy how one should play with straws after we stole them.

10. Took long naps with Mommy - this is very important in the healing process.

11. Gave Mommy massages by making biscuits on her tummy.

12. Made sure Mommy's dinner was good by taste testing for her.

13. Since she was not day hunting, we were able to go out on our porch and enjoy the nice weather. Its was almost 70 degrees here!! Here are some pictures Mommy took of us enjoying the day. Do you see how Dante's furrs are all thick? Mommy says he has his winter coat on.
Mommy put this green blanket on this chair just for Jack. She said it matches his beautiful green eyes.

Tiger Tales

For those of you who do not know, we live in the South - right outside of Atlanta, GA. Also for those of you who do not know, last night was the college football championships and as Daddy says a lot "In the South, football is a religion" (to this Mommy always says that if that is the case then it's definately a church that she does not attend). The main reason we mention this is that last night Daddy left and came home really late because Mommy said he was watching the game over at Uncle Dave's. That was okay, because we got plenty of cuddle time. However, while we were cuddling Mommy told us a very interesting story that we want to share with you.

Again, for those of you who do not know, our V-E-T is really our Aunt Susan (Uncle Dave's wife and one of our Mommy's best friends). Well, she went to vet school at the college that won the game last night, LSU (Louisiana State University). And while Aunt Susan was at vet school, one of the first kitties she ever got to care for was very special - can you guess who that kitty was?

Yep, it was Mike the Tiger, LSU's mascot! She got to help care for Mike V (who passed away last May - Mommy says Aunt Susan was upset when he died) when he was just a kitten and up until she got her DVM. She said it was one of the most amazing things she has ever done, taking care of a tiger baby. We think that taking care of a tiger helped Aunt Susan to be prepared to take care of two pirate kitties like us - we mean, its gotta be harder to care for pirate kitties than for a tiger, right?

Mike V, the kitty our Aunt Susan helped to raise and care for.

Anyway, we are glad that LSU won last night because it made our Daddy and Uncle Dave very happy. But we knew all along they would win - after all they are cats aren't they? Cats are always the best, no matter what they do!!!!
PS: Mommy is sick today so we are not sure how much visiting our friends we will be able to do, but we'll be back ASAP!!

Mancat Monday

In our house, all mancats must cook just like Daddy! Mommies and Lady Kitties do not cook, unless it's warming something up in the microwave. In order to show you guys this, here are some pictures of us helping Dad yesterday morning with the manly breakfast cooking duties!!

Dante supervises the cooking from his perch on the kitchen utility cart, instructing Daddy on how to best cook the eggs. (If you look behind him on the counter, you will see our wonderful fountain too! It's up there so no nasty doggies can drink our filtered water).

Captain Jack supervises the lower part of the cooking. He makes sure that no food that falls on the floor goes uneaten. (Yes, those are Daddy's legs in his slippers and pajamas - it was breakfast we were cooking and for some reasons our humans hate getting out of their pajamas on Sundays). If you look really closely at the top of the picture, you can see Dante's toesies perched on the cart like in the picture above.

In other news, we have decided that Dante shall have a title as well. From now on, his official title will be "Sir Dante Barbossa, First Mate and Lieutenant" but we may just call him Sir Dante for short. What do you kitties think???

Pirate Friday

We have decided that we, as pirate kitties, need more pirate stuff in our house! There just isn't enough pirate things laying around and we think this means that other pirates will not take us seriously. This must be remedied! In order to tell Mommy about our displeasure, we googled "cat pirate" and came up with some items we think she should get.

As all pirates have done, we need to make sure we operate under our own "jolly roger" which is the name now given to any of various flags flown to identify a ship's crew as pirates (thanks Wikipedia for the definition). We think that our staff should also wear our jolly roger, so that everyone will know that they belong to us. We found this for Mommy and Daddy, what do you think?
Now, we know that many kitties do not like PTUs, but sometimes you have to ride in one. If we must leave the safety of our home or the decks of the Black Furrball, we must do it in style! Look at what we found! Pretty snazzy huh?
Finally, the best thing ever! A bed fit for a pirate cat! We have to have this, don'tcha think? It even comes with a skull toy that we can practice our piracy skills with!
One more thing, and its something Dante has been thinking a lot about. When the lovely Diamond Emerald-Eyes gave him his special award that we blogged about yesterday, the lady said she thinks that Dante needs a title too (cause Jack is a Captain and all and Dante is just Dante). What do you kitties think? Should Dante be given a title too? What should it be?

Thursday, January 3, 2008

Look at what we got! Isn't it great?! And Dante got not one but TWO of these very special awards! As a group, Mr Hendrix gave the entire Black Furrball crew this award because he and his Mommy have been two of our bestest friends for a very long time (7 whole years!!) and Dante was given this award all on his own by Ms. Diamond Emerald-Eyes for being a brave mancat who overcame being homeless to find a good home( in case you are unfamiliar with the Frakenkitty story, you can read it here). Thank you two so much, we are truly honored to be presented with the Extraordinary Gold Star Award!!

The Extraordinary Gold Star Award was created by - Storm, The Furry Fighter - and is for Bloggers who have achieved or done something special. The award celebrates beyond what is ordinary or usual.
1) Post the explanation and rules of the award and link back to the blogger who presented you with the award and repeat the reason why you received it.
2) Pass the Award on to two other Bloggers who you fink deserve it and explain why!

The first kitty we would like to give this award to is Samantha. We think she is a true princess who may have found her own prince.

The second kitty we want to give this award to is Pearl because well, Dante is blushing too much to say at the moment....teehee.

Since we got the award twice, we should get to give this award out four times, don'tcha think?

So the third kitty we want to give this award to is Tybalt and family. We do this in honor of the award that Hendrix and his Mommy gave us. As we have known Hendrix and his Mommy for a very long time, we have also known Tybalt and his Mommy for a long time too - Mommy says at least 10 years. Our Mommies met in college when they were just undergraduates and they managed to even finish graduate school together. Hi Aunt Rini!!

Finally, we give this award to Dragonheart. We think that any kitty who can be such a good ambassador for an entire breed and such an awesome big brother at the same time deserves it!

Wordless Wednesday

(From left to right: Uncle Mikey, Uncle Dave, and Beaux say "Happy New Year Everyone"!!)
