Thursday Thirteen

As you know, Mommy and Daddy are really debating bringing LK home to live with us. Because of this, today we are going to list 13 things we have heard said about LK this week.

1. Mommy said to Daddy: "Captain Jack is my kitty and Dante is your kitty - if we got LK, who would he belong to?"

2.Daddy said: "He is still so little that I cannot make a decision yet..."

3. Aunt Susan said: "If you are worried about Jack and Dante hurting him, don't be. Chances are they will think something more along the lines of 'what the heck is that thing?!' than they will think of hurting him."

4. Mommy said: "He is an orphan, we could name him Oliver."

5. Daddy said: "What about Dodger as in The Artful Dodger?"

6. Aunt Susan said: "I think you should name him Merlyn cause he has eyes like a little owl."

7. Mommy said: "Where would we isolate him at? Dante likes the guest bathroom so much and he feels that it is his room, so we cannot take that room from him."

8. Nana said: "If you guys bring him home, make sure to do it when you can take some time to be home with him so he can get to know you and the boys and the house."

9. Uncle Mark said: "I think you have just the right amount of animals and getting one more may be pushing it."

10. Aunt Susan said: "I have had one inquiry about him, so do not feel like you have to take him. I can find a home for him, no problem. If you do take him and it just doesn't work out, we can still find him a good home then too."

11. Mommy said: "It was easy enough when Dante came home. They only had about two hours of hissing and growling before it was over and Susan says a kitten would be easier than to introduce than Dante was..."

12. Samwise said: "Oh you should have seen him! He is so little and he was whapping and batting my nose and he smelled like a baby - just like Jack did when he first came home!"

13. Captain Jack and Dante say: "We are not sure about this either. We could use a cabin boy but what if he gets more attention than us? We like our hosue now. Do we really need to add another? What if we do not like him? What if he does not like us? Samwise says he bites too!!"

Momma feeds a group of feral manx cats. She knew that the Momma Manx kitty was pregnant and around 2/14 she gave birth. Two weeks ago just by accident Momma found the 4 kitties. One was a tuxedo kitty manx and she scooped him/her up and held onto to him/her. She was thinking about adding him/her to our tribe. She was torned because he/she was so small and she felt like this little one still needed his Mamakitty. So she didn't take him. She was sure that she would never get the chance again to have him/her. But she thought she did the right thing. She hopes she did because she thought that having one more mouth (totalling SIX!) would be too much. But she really wonders if she made the right decision. It's a tough choice because there is so much to think about it. LK will get a good forever home no matter what and that is ultimately what is the most important thing....

Wow, lots of talk going on about LK. We are glad he will find a wonderful Forever Home, regardless. Good luck with your decision!

So much debate for such a little kitten. Of course you need a cabin boy. Sheesh. Are you trying to talk yourselves into bringing him home or talk yourselves out of bringing him home.

If your thinking this much about him, you know you want to at least give him a shot as the newest pirate. If not you'll wonder about it forever. If he's not the right fit, you know and he can find a good forever home somewhere else! ~Queen Snickers

I think it would probably work out. Mommy said she was worried about taking me home when I was a tiny little kitten to Holly and Ivy and Loki, who were all so much bigger than me. It all worked out ok, though, and we all get along . . . and I now rule the roost!

As far as picking a person, I think LK would do the picking. He might even pick Samwise. Out of everyone in our family, I like Titus the best. :)
We are sending lots of purrs and purrayers your way while you make your decision.

Mommy says Uncle Mark is wrong - there are never too many animals (of course she really wants a new kitty)! We think Mommy is so avid because LK looks just like Jake did when they got him! The good news is that with Aunt Susan and your Mommy around LK is sure to get a wonderful home!

Dearest Dante,
I would make blinky eyes for you any time!

When Mommy brought Scylla & Charybids home they were 4 weeks old. I did not hiss at them at all, in fact I pretended to ignore them. But I would stay in whatever room they were in and watch over them. When Scylla was 6 weeks old she came running up to me. It kinda scared me to have this ball of fur hurtling toward me at warp speed. I hissed at her and she hissed back but she slowed down and once I saw it was her, I was OK and she came to me and we sniffed each other and licked each other, and became very good friends. I became friends with Charybdis too, once she got over being scared of me. I am sure if your parents bring LK home you will be friends too. ~Socks

Can you try it out on a trial basis? Maybe that way you could see what your new family arrangement would look like. Since LK shouldn;t have a problem getting a forever home, maybe that's the way to go!

Oh gosh, what a dilemma! I know you will make the right decision for your family.

Wow! That's a hard decision. But as you continue to talk about it, you'll make the decision that's best for your family and LK

I think it will work out, too, cause he's a kitten! Dorydoo was innerduced to Brainball when she was just an itty bitty kitten and he was kinda like WHAT IS THIS LITTLE GIRL THANG at furst but then they quickly fell in love and gotted furry close. And when I was innerduced to Dorydoo, Brainball, and Marilyn, I was a kitten (an oldur kitten) and things went smoothly with me, too. The only innerduckshun that was a little rougher was when Marilyn was innerduced to Brainball and Marilyn, and efun though there was no fur flyin and nobody ever foughted, Marilyn still keeps her distance from the rest of us Ballicai most of the time. But she's fine as long as she gets enuff purrsonal space!

This is a hard decision, but at least you know that he will get a good home, whether at your house or someone else's. I also think that a trial period might be a good idea.

Yes, what MaoMao says is quite true. I do like to keep a certain amount of purrsonal space from my siblings, and introductions were kind of tense at first because I was a grown, older kitty when I met Dorydoo, Brainball, and MaoMao. But Mom thinks it was more because I had always been an only kitty -- and then I wound up in a household with three other cats! I do quite well, considering, but my space is important to me.

Good luck with your decision! I think a kitten could work out very well. MaoMao is my favorite sibling and I met him when he was still a kitten *smile*.

We agree that you should maybe foster him to see if he is going to be a foster failure or not. We kind of think that foster failures are the best.
