Our Pirate Den is No More

Kitties, we had a very traumatic weekend. We learned some bad news - our very own pirate den room is being taken away from us and the humans are giving it to the Cabin Boy! You see kitties, we've always had the "guest room" as our room - our big bed was in it and some of our toys. The room was gated off so only kitties, and no woofies, could come in. It was the room that Fagin stayed in when he first came to live with us. Well, a few weekends ago Daddy and Uncle Dave took all of the furniture out of the rooom - even our bed! We heard them say they was going to paint it so we thought "Finally! They are going to fix up our pirate den in a way that befits such rare and fierce pirates as us three!" Aunt Susan came over and they put all this white putty stuff on the walls and Mommy showed us the color she choose to paint it - its called "Drifting Dunes" which is pawsome cause pirate hangouts should be sand colored right?

We got all excited until we heard Mommy and Daddy talking - they renamed our pirate room "The Baby's Room." Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE GIVING OUR ROOM AWAY TO THE CABIN BOY!! NOT FAIR!!! And then we heard the woman that claims to be our mother say she was going to lock us out of the room because she did not know how else to keep us out of the crib. How dare she!! Kitties, we are going to rebel - we will not stand for this!! How could she?!?!

(PS: This is the Purrageous Mom. Does anyone out there have any ideas other than utter banishment of the kitties from the room? They adore that room but I do not want them sleeping in the Cabin Boy's bed and I know that space will be way too tempting for the kitties. I hate to lock them out, but I think I might have to. Thanks!)

Can you replace the door (temporarily) with a screen door? So the pirate cats can still look in, and the little cabin boy will be safe.

are they building you your own room now? Is there another space somewhere where you can put the crew's things and they can claim it as their own? It might be good for them to have their own space away from the baby's room so that they can adjust to the baby and the crying and such. just a thought.

Oh guys, that is SO SAD! Losin yer special room is terrible... We hope the Beins at least set up some other part of the house for ya.

Mebbe their bed room can become more "yours"!

We don't have any suggestions, but we do think that you should get your own room or a special area just your own. We think you might want to be far away from Cabin Boy when he's meowing loudly.

We've always managed to go where we want. I think you should have your own space--and if you like that more you will stay there.

I've seen people get crib tents when they want to keep the cats in the room, but out of the crib. There are a few different kinds. Here's one: https://www.totsinmind.com/products/crib2.html

Hi! have you heard of crib tents? mommy looked at these for me, but luckily i don't have any interest in either the crib or pack n play.

here is a website link on how to make one:

here is a link on where to get one:

COZY-CRIB-TENT/dp/B000056HLX

you may find that the cats want nothing to do with the crib when it is put together. i never got in it, just sniffed the legs and slept under it.

bummer about you losing your room! i lost mine too. it is good your beans are doing this now because it will give you time to inspect the new stuff before the baby comes. then it won't be so interesting. mommy and daddy left the door open for me the entire time so i could go in and out.

without MY bed and MY stuff in it, i wasn't interested in going in there after a couple of weeks.

we hope this info helps!

My son's wife was worried about their cat and the new baby sharing a bed. Cindy said the first time Zoey was in the bed and Benny cried - that was the last time she ever wanted to have him as her bed buddy☺

I wouldn't worry about this too much. The most important thing is for a healthy baby and a healthy momma. All the other stuff just doesn't matter☺

OH Capt'n Jack I am so sorry yoo are losing your special room, but dear it is for such a wonderful reason. I bet in time all of you will be allowed to go back and forth and it will still be that 'special' room for you all.

It may not be practical but you need a bigger house! The kitties need their own room!

Mommy agrees with the crib tents! She doesn't think the kitties will hurt the new Cabin boy at all!

You might just try and see how it goes!

Glad you are feeling better!!!

We have missed visiting with you!!!

That is just horrible news! Are they going to give you their room instead???

Sorry, I have no ideas.

I am so glad to hear your blood pressure is better. Keep up the good work, relaxing, for you and Cabin Boy.

Well guys, we can sympathize with you. When our families Blurpy Girl was born, Mom took away our room and fixed it for the girl, and she doesn't even live here...she just visits!! She keeps the door closed now so we can't even see our old room.

Mom says Scruffy checked out da boy's crib zactly ONCE an nefur went in wif him der, only unner it. Da crib tent seems like a good idear. Mom was tryin to fink of sumfing to put in da crib now (not affer baby's here) dat would discourage kitties. Like, jump in an land in water once, an nefur wanna jump in agin. Foil? Plastic (shudder) bags?

Pirates, don't you worry! In no time at all, it'll be like they added a bean to YOUR room wif all hims fun toys an stuff. Sleepin wif our boy is almost as good as sleepin wif Mom an Dad.
Purrs,
Victor
PS We has a closed bedroom door but I still amember, 4 years later, dat it's MY room, where I stayed when I first camed an Mom thot Bonnie mite eat me.
